# Sort how the discounts are applied - Kite Custom Discounts

This guide explains how to control whether a discount applies to the lowest-priced or highest-priced eligible item(s) in a customer's cart. This setting is most effective when you have also set a limit on the number of products that can be discounted in one order.


### Steps to Configure the Discount Application Order

1. **Navigate to the Setting**
    * Create or edit a custom discount promotion in the Kite app.
    * Set up your main discount rules and value (e.g., `10%` off when a certain cart subtotal is reached).
    * In the campaign setup, scroll down to the section labeled **"Cart and discount application order"**.
2. **Choose Your Application Order** You will see two options. Select one:
    * **Apply discount to the least expensive product:** This will target the lowest-priced eligible item(s) in the cart.
    * **Apply discount to the most expensive product:** This will target the highest-priced eligible item(s) in the cart.
3. **Save Your Changes**
    * Click the **Save** button to apply your choice.

### Testing Your Setup

1. Add several eligible products with different prices to your cart.
2. Check the cart to see which item receives the discount.
    * If you selected "least expensive," the discount will be applied to the item with the lowest price (e.g., an item worth `₹250`).
    * If you selected "most expensive," the discount will be applied to the item with the highest price (e.g., an item worth `₹829`).
