How to Create Discounts Using Campaign Templates in the Kite App

This guide explains how to use Kite’s Campaign Templates to instantly generate popular promotion setups (like "Spend $100, Get 10% Off" with a progress bar) without configuring every rule from scratch.

Step-by-Step Configuration

1. Access the Template Library

  • Navigate to the Campaigns or Templates section in the Kite dashboard.
  • Scroll through the available options. You will see various "Use Cases" such as:
    • Tiered Discounts: (e.g., Spend $120 get 10% off).
    • Volume Breaks: (e.g., Buy 2 get 5% off).
    • Free Gift Goals: (e.g., Spend $200 get a free item).

2. Select and Load a Template

  • Click on a template that matches your goal (e.g., a "Progress Bar" discount).
  • What happens next: Kite will open the discount editor with all settings pre-filled. The Offer Type, Rules, and Widget settings will already be selected for you.

3. Customize the Predefined Settings

  • Crucial Step: The template uses placeholder numbers (e.g., $120 threshold). You must adjust these to fit your store's pricing.
    • Edit Eligibility: Change the "Spend Amount" or "Item Quantity" requirements.
    • Edit Value: Change the discount percentage (e.g., from 10% to 15%).
    • Edit Design: If the template includes a Progress Bar, you can tweak the colors and text to match your theme.

4. Save and Activate

  • Once you have verified the rules, click Save.
  • The discount is now live (or ready to be tested) on your store.

Technical Notes & Limitations

Templates are Shortcuts, Not Magic: A template simply creates a standard Kite offer (Automatic or Manual). Once created, it behaves exactly like a discount you built from scratch. You can edit it later at any time.
Automatic vs. Manual: Most templates default to Automatic application (especially those with Progress Bars) to ensure the best customer experience. If you need a code-based offer, check the settings before saving.

Troubleshooting Checklist

  • Discount triggering too early/late? Check the Eligibility Rules. You likely forgot to change the template's default threshold (e.g., the template had $120, but you wanted $150).
  • Progress Bar not showing? Verify the Widget Placement in the settings. Templates select a default placement (like Cart Page), but you may need to enable the specific App Block in your Theme Editor.
  • Wrong Product Discounted? Templates often apply to "All Products" by default. If you only want the discount on a specific collection, update the Targeting settings.
