How to Hide Add to Cart & Quantity Selectors for Free Gift Products

This guide explains how to hide the "Add to Cart" button, quantity selector, and price for products designated as free gifts. Creating a custom product template ensures customers can only receive these items through your promotion and cannot purchase them directly.

1. Create a New Product Template

First, you need to create a new template within your theme that will be used exclusively for your free gift items.

• From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
• Find your current theme and click the Customize button.
• Once the theme editor loads, open the dropdown menu at the top of the screen. Select Products, and then click on Create template.
• Give the template a memorable name, such as Kite Free Gift, and click Create template.

2. Customize the Template to Hide Product Elements

Now that you are editing the new template, you will remove the elements that allow a customer to purchase the item.

• In the theme editor's left-side panel, you will see the different blocks that make up your product page (e.g., Price, Quantity selector, Buy buttons).
• Hide the following blocks by clicking the "eye" icon next to each one:
• • Quantity selector
  • Price
  • Buy buttons (this block usually contains the "Add to Cart" and "Buy it now" buttons)
• Click the Save button in the top right corner.

3. Assign the New Template to Your Free Gift Product

With the template ready, the final step is to apply it to the specific product you use as a free gift.

• Exit the theme editor and go back to your Shopify admin.
• Navigate to Products and open the product you have designated as a free gift (e.g., a specific Gift Card).
• On the right side of the product editor, find the Theme template section.
• Change the template from "Default product" to your newly created Kite Free Gift template.
• Click Save.

4. Verify on Your Storefront

To confirm the changes, go to your online store and navigate to the free gift product's page. You will see that the price, quantity selector, and all purchase buttons have been hidden, making it impossible for a customer to buy the item directly. It can now only be added to the cart via your free gift promotion.
