How to Set Up Customer and Country Eligibility Rules in the Kite Free Gift App
ou can create personalized promotions by setting up eligibility rules that target specific customers based on their location or tags.
Setting Up Customer Eligibility Rules
- First, ensure the Kite app theme is enabled on your store.
- Create a new promotion or edit an existing one.
- In the promotion's settings, scroll down to the Customer Eligibility Rules section.
- Click Add Rule. You will see several options to define the rule.
Option 1: Rule Based on Visiting Country
This rule targets customers based on their physical location (geolocation via IP address).
- From the rule options, select visiting country.
- Choose whether to include or exclude specific countries.
- Type a country name (e.g., India) and press
Enter
. You can add multiple countries. - Click Save.
- If you included a country, customers visiting from that location will see the promotion widget.
- If you excluded a country, customers from that location will not see the promotion widget.
Option 2: Rule Based on Markets
This rule targets customers based on themarketsyou have configured in your Shopify store.
- From the rule options, select markets.
- Choose the market you wish to include (e.g., India).
- Click Save. Only customers Browse from a country within that selected market will see the promotion.
Option 3: Rule Based on Customer Tags
This rule targets customers who have specific tags assigned to their account.
- From the rule options, select customer tags.
- Type the tag you want to target (e.g.,
VIP
) and pressEnter
. - Click Save. Only logged-in customers with this specific tag will see the promotion.
How to Add a Tag to a Customer Profile
- From your Shopify admin, go to the Customers section.
- Find and select the customer you want to tag.
- In the bottom-right corner of the customer's profile, locate the Tags section.
- Type the tag (e.g.,
VIP
), pressEnter
, and click Save.
Removing an Eligibility Rule
To make a promotion available to all customers, simply remove the saved rule from the Customer Eligibility Rules section and click Save. The promotion will then be visible to everyone.
