How to Set Up Discounts on Subscription and One-Time Products

This guide explains how to control whether your promotions, such as free gifts or discounts, apply only to one-time purchases or exclusively to subscription sign-ups for a product.

This setting is typically found in the Advanced settings section when creating or editing any discount or free gift campaign.


Scenario 1: Apply a Discount ONLY to Subscription Products


Use this method to reward customers for subscribing.

  1. Create or edit your desired promotion (e.g., a free gift).
  2. In the Advanced settings, find the eligibility option for subscription products.
  3. Select the choice labeled 'Include only subscription products'.
  4. Click Save.

Result: The promotion will only activate when a customer selects a subscription plan for an eligible product. It will not apply to one-time purchases of the same product.


Scenario 2: Apply a Discount ONLY to One-Time Purchases


Use this method to run a promotion on standard, non-recurring purchases.

  1. Create or edit your desired promotion.
  2. In the Advanced settings, find the eligibility option for subscription products.
  3. Select the choice labeled 'Exclude subscription products'.
  4. Click Save.


Result: The promotion will only activate when a customer selects the "one-time purchase" option for an eligible product. It will not apply if they select any subscription plan.
