How to setup a Buy X Get X on the same Product (SKU)

This guide explains how to set up a "Buy X, Get X" offer where the discounted or free item must be identical to the one the customer purchases (i.e., the same SKU).


1. Start Your BOGO Campaign


  1. In the Kite app, begin a new promotion using the Advanced Buy X, Get Y BOGO option.
  2. Give your campaign a name (e.g., Same-SKU-Offer).


2. Define the "X" Condition (What Customers Buy)


  1. In the 'Product X' section, select the products or collections that are eligible for this offer (e.g., the "Hydrogen collection").
  2. Specify the quantity a customer needs to purchase to trigger the discount (e.g., 1).


3. Set the "Y" Condition to Match "X"


  1. In the 'Product Y' section, select the special option "same product SKU as 'Product X'". This is the key setting that ensures the offer only applies to identical items.
  2. Specify the quantity the customer will get at a discount (e.g., 1).


4. Set the Discount Value


  • Choose your discount type and value. For a classic "Buy One, Get One Free" deal, set the discount to 100%.


5. Configure Repetition (Optional)


  • Set a limit for how many times this offer can be repeated in a single order. Setting a high number allows the deal to apply continuously (e.g., a customer buying 4 of the same item would get 2 of them for free).


6. Save the Promotion


  • After configuring any additional eligibility rules, click Save.


How It Works on Your Store


  • If a customer adds two different products from the eligible "Hydrogen collection" to their cart, the discount will not apply.
  • If the customer adds one of an eligible product, and then increases the quantity of that same, identical product to 2, the discount will be applied to the second unit.
