How to setup limits on buy x get y (bogo)
This guide explains how to create a "Buy X Get Y" (BOGO) promotion and use limits to control how many times a customer can redeem the offer in a single order.
1. Start and Name Your BOGO Campaign
- In the Kite app, start a new Buy X Get Y promotion.
- Give your campaign a title.
2. Configure Product X (What the Customer Buys)
- Select the products, collections, tags, or other criteria for the items a customer must purchase.
- Enter the required quantity of these "X" items to qualify for the offer.
3. Configure Product Y (What the Customer Gets)
- Select the products or collections that the customer will receive at a discount.
- Enter the quantity of "Y" items that will be discounted each time the condition is met.
4. Set the Discount
- Choose the discount type (e.g., percentage, fixed amount, or fixed price) and enter the value that will be applied to Product Y.
5. Set the Maximum Uses Per Order
- Locate the setting labeled "maximum number of uses per order."
- Enter a number to limit how many times the BOGO offer can be applied in one cart. For example:
- Entering
1
will ensure the customer can only get one discounted "Y" item, even if they purchase enough "X" items to qualify several times over.
- Entering
6. Configure Optional Settings
- Discount Application Order: Choose whether the discount applies to the most expensive or least expensive item if multiple eligible items are in the cart.
7. Save and Test
- Click Save.
- Go to your storefront and add the required "X" product(s) to the cart.
- The BOGO widget will appear, allowing you to claim the discounted "Y" product.
- Once the "Y" product is added, the discount will be applied in the cart. If you have set the "maximum uses" to 1, adding more qualifying "X" products will not trigger the offer again in the same order.
