How does Rules or Conditions work on Bundle builders?

Overview Rules in Easy Bundle Builder allow merchants to control the minimum and maximum selection requirements for customers building a bundle. These rules ensure customers select the correct mix of products (e.g., "Pick exactly 3 items" or "Pick 1 T-shirt and 1 Pant"). There are two distinct types of rules: Step Rules and Category Rules.

1. Critical Constraint: Mutual Exclusivity Before configuring rules, it is vital to understand that Step Rules and Category Rules cannot be used simultaneously within the same step.

  • The Logic: You must choose one rule type per step.
  • Implication: If you enable Step Rules, you cannot enforce specific limits on individual categories within that step. If you enable Category Rules, you cannot enforce a total count limit for the whole step.

2. Step-Level Rules Step rules apply to the total number of products selected within a specific step of the bundle builder, regardless of which category the products belong to.

  • When to use: When you need a total count for the step (e.g., "Select any 3 items from this list").
  • Configuration Logic:
    • Range: You can set a minimum and maximum range (e.g., "Select between 3 and 6 products").
    • Exact Match: You can require a specific number (e.g., "Equal to 3 products").
  • Auto-Next Feature:
    • The app includes a setting called "Auto next when condition is met."
    • How it works: If this is enabled and the rule requires exactly 3 items, the moment the customer adds the 3rd item to their bundle, the app automatically transitions them to the next step without requiring them to click a "Next" button.

3. Category-Level Rules Category rules allow you to set specific constraints for individual collections/categories contained within a single step.

  • Prerequisite: This option is only available if you have assigned multiple categories to a single step (e.g., a "Clothing" step containing "Men's" and "Women's" categories).
  • When to use: When you need a specific mix (e.g., "Select 2 items from Women's and 2 items from Men's").
  • Rule Metrics: Unlike Step rules which are usually quantity-based, Category rules can be based on three metrics:
    1. Quantity: Number of items.
    2. Amount: Total value (price) of items selected.
    3. Weight: Total weight of items selected.
  • Configuration Logic: You can apply "Greater than or equal to" and "Less than or equal to" conditions for each specific category independently.
