How to create a Product page bundle?

How to Create and Configure a Product Page Bundle

Core Logic & Setup

1. Bundle Initialization & Product Creation

  • Navigate to the Bundle tab.
  • Click Create Bundle.
  • Select Product Page Builder (vs. Landing Page Builder).
  • System Action: Upon clicking Product Page Builder, the app immediately and automatically creates a new "Parent Bundle Product" in the connected Shopify Admin. This product serves as the container for the bundle.

2. Defining Structure (Steps and Categories)

The bundle logic is hierarchical: Steps > Categories > Products/Collections.

  • Add Steps: Create distinct stages in the bundle flow (e.g., "Choose a Shirt", "Choose a Hat").
  • Add Categories: Inside a specific Step, add Categories.
  • Add Content: Inside a Category, select specific Products or Collections to display.

3. Configuring Rules

Rules control user constraints and can be applied at two specific levels:

  • Step Level Rules: Limits apply to the entire step.
    • IF a rule is set here (e.g., Quantity), the user must satisfy the total count across all categories within this step.
  • Category Level Rules: Limits apply only to a specific category within a step.
    • IF a rule is set here, the user must satisfy the requirement for this specific category before proceeding.
  • Rule Types:
    • Quantity: Restricts the number of items selectable.
    • Amount: Restricts the total value of items selectable.

4. Discount Configuration

  • Navigate to the Discounts section.
  • Option A (Fixed Percentage): Applies a % off the total price.
  • Option B (Fixed Bundle Price): Sets a flat rate for the entire bundle.

5. Widget Placement & Template Selection

  • Click Place Widget.
  • Select a visual template (e.g., the default PDP Bundle template).
  • This action generates a specific Theme Template file within the Shopify Theme.

Theme Integration & Linking Logic

For the bundle to appear on the storefront, three specific conditions must be met in the Shopify Theme Editor and Admin.

1. Activate App Embed (Global)

  • Go to Themes > Customize.
  • Navigate to App Embeds on the left sidebar.
  • IF the Easy Bundles theme app extension is not toggled to ON, THEN the bundle scripts will not load anywhere on the site.

2. Add the App Block (Template Level)

  • Navigate to the specific Template created in Step 5 (e.g., product.pdp-bundle).
  • Click Add Block.
  • Select Product Page Builder.
  • IF this block is not added, THEN the bundle widget UI will not be rendered on the page.

The Parent Bundle Product created in Step 1 does not automatically know which visual layout to use.

  • Go to Shopify Admin > Products.
  • Open the Parent Bundle Product created by the app.
  • Locate the Online Store / Theme Template setting (usually in the bottom right or center right).
  • Change the template suffix to match the template created in Easy Bundles (e.g., product.pdp-bundle).
  • IF this suffix is not assigned, THEN the product page will load the default Shopify product layout, and the bundle widget will not appear.

Customization & Layouts

To modify the visual appearance of an existing bundle:

  1. Click Customize Bundle.
  2. Select a layout type:
    • Product: Standard list view.
    • Horizontal: Items arranged horizontally.
    • Vertical: Items arranged vertically.
    • Slots: Placeholder interface (Horizontal or Vertical options).
  1. To Switch Layouts:
    • Click Selected on the desired layout.
    • Click Next.
    • Click Preview Bundle to render the changes.
  1. To Edit Logic: Click Customize Your Bundle to return to the Step/Category configuration screen.

Constraints & Edge Cases

  • Mutually Exclusive Templates: You cannot use the "Landing Page Builder" logic on a "Product Page Builder" setup. They are distinct flows.
  • Product Existence: The Shopify Product is created immediately upon starting the builder. IF you delete this product in Shopify Admin, the bundle in the app will break or become orphaned.
  • Theme Dependency: The bundle relies on the specific Theme Template suffix. IF the live theme is changed or updated, you must ensure the new theme has the Easy Bundles App Embed active and the specific template suffix exists and is assigned to the product again.
